Pam Ann’s Emergency Landing at Whistler Pride!

Pam Ann’s Emergency Landing!

Whistler Pride and Ski Festival Overcomes Last Minute Cancellation with Pam Ann Returns

Last minute travel is a nightmare, but for Australian Comedienne Caroline Reid the ups and downs of air-travel provide her comedic persona, Pam Ann the material she needs to skewer everything and anything that takes flight. As luck would have it, rearranging her travel and adding a last minute performance to her sold-out Pam Ann Returns world tour also brings some Mary Poppins magic to Whistler. She flies in, umbrella in hand after a big-name headliner withdrew last minute, saving the day and ensuring Whistler Pride and Ski Festival guests the riotous night of laughter they have come to expect.

Comedy Night is one of the most anticipated events during Whistler Pride and Ski Festival and securing a recognizable and reliable act is one of the trickiest parts of programming. Festival organizers were thrilled to have announced Nicole Byer to headline. Plans were in place for an exceptional event until despite signed contracts Nicole Byer withdrew her act from the festival less than two weeks before she was set to perform. Her management team cited a production schedule conflict and offered to push the show into February but the suggested date would be after the festival had ended. Quick maneuvers by Festival Director Sunil Sinha ensured the show would go on with bringing Pam Ann back to Whistler to headline the night with all-new material.

About Pam Ann

With the character of Pam Ann – Australian comedian-writer-producer-DJ Caroline Reid has developed a cult-like status and continues to sell out tours globally. Pam’s barbed wit has seen her fly many a risky route and negotiate even the most politically incorrect flight path with her blisteringly funny take on the world of airlines and aircrew. Nothing is out of reach of her pristine white gloves, strutting up the aisle with a trolley full of beautifully unpredictable, acerbic airline satire. There’s not much Pam hasn’t seen or done – from crewing Elton John’s private jet at his express request, sharing a stadium stage on a tour of the UK with Cher, and counting Madonna in her legion of devoted fans worldwide.

Pam Ann Returns

Go on a jolly f**king holiday with Pam Ann Returns, a brand new show starring the perfectly-inappropriate-in-every-way air-hostess Pam Ann. From feeding the birds in coach to flying kites in first class, Pam Ann’s barbed wit has seen her hilariously negotiate even the most politically incorrect flight path. A spoonful of ‘sugar’, a xanax and some Mary Poppers will help you get through this flight with PamAnn in the most delightful hysterical f**cked up way!

Comedy Night at Whistler Pride

Comedy Night takes place at the Whistler Conference Centre on Wednesday January 29th, produced in cooperation with the Resort Municipality of Whistler and Tourism Whistler. Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm. After the show guests will go immediately to the Comedy Night After Party at The CABN, where Pam Ann will appear in character to meet with and entertain fans. Tickets for both events can be purchased here

Snow Time – Get Outside During Whistler Pride

SNOW-TIME – GET OUTSIDE DURING WHISTLER PRIDE

The snow is piling up in Whistler and the Whistler Pride festival team is giddy with excitement – so many ways to play in the snow. With less than two weeks until the festival now is the perfect time to consider the many ways to take in the awe-inspiring winter wonderland that makes Whistler one of the most popular and loved ski resorts in the world. There’s a lot to see and do, and with Whistler Pride being one of the busiest weeks of the year it is highly recommended to book your activities in advance. Here is a list of our favourite reasons to get outside, in no particular order.

Ice Skating At Olympic Plaza
Known simply as skating in Canada (is there really any other kind?), outdoor Ice Skating in Whistler can be done at Olympic Plaza, in the heart of the village with great views of the mountain. Go in the evening and make it romantic with hot chocolate and a hot date.  Admission is free. Skate rentals are only $7.

Tubing at the Coca-Cola Tube Park
Whistler Pride guests can relive childhood memories by whooshing down the mountain in a tube at Whistler Blackcomb’s Coca-Cola Tube Park. No special equipment or training required. Easily accessible from the Village and open to everyone this is a perfect way for those who don’t ski to experience the mountain.

Pride Parade Day
Seeing the rainbow flags fly down the mountain gives us all the feels! This year, Parade Marshal Lady Bunny will greet the parade at the bottom of the mountain and lead the march through the Village in a celebration of freedom and inclusiveness, thanking Whistler for welcoming the festival with open arms every year. The Parade ends at the Conference Centre for the big Friday T-Dance, which offers free entry to guests 19 and older until 5:30pm.

Vallea Lumina at Night
A magical multimedia night journey in pursuit of hidden wonders. Vallea Lumina is Whistler’s newest attraction and a great activity for groups and couples.  Ignite your senses with an immersive light show set in the forested surrounds of Cougar Mountain. Enjoy marshmallows, hot chocolate and other non-alcoholic refreshments at basecamp before embarking on your journey into the magical forest. This is the perfect way to walk off your dinner before heading to Splash Pool Party on Thursday night.

Charity Ski Race
Test your skill and your predictive abilities – zoom down the racecourse and raise money for A Loving Spoonful! The race runs from 1-3pm on Thursday January 30th at the GMC Race Centre on Blackcomb Mountain. All abilities welcome and no race experience necessary. Skiers and snowboarders welcome. Run as many times as you feel like donating. Racers can donate with cash or credit cards. The winners for fastest, slowest, and for closest to their predicted time will be announced at the free festival Après at the CABN on Thursday afternoon.

Snowmobile Tours
There is a certain thrill of conquering the snow with the help of a powerful machine between your legs. Take a guided sled tour through the snow and into Whistler’s backcountry to experience this treasured Canadian pastime. No experience needed. Just think of the Instagram photo and story opportunities!

Skiing and Snowboarding Guide Groups
The main attraction – 8,171 acres (33 km2) of ski terrain – could easily feel overwhelming to a newcomer, but with the support of Whistler Blackcomb, Whistler Pride and Ski Festival provides free-to-join (lift ticket required), inclusive guided groups for skiers and snowboarders. Divided by skill level, the groups enable festivalgoers to explore the mountain in great company. Check the app for the schedule. Registration is encouraged to help tour guides plan.

Rest your Body and Spirit at Scandinave Spa
Secluded and serene, Scandinave Spa is a must-do experience! And Sip ‘N Dip at Scandinave Spa has become one of the festival’s most popular events, selling out in advance every year. Ease into your trip by soaking up the spa at the start of your trip. Recharge between festival events with a mid-week visit. Or schedule a day of  detox and recovery after a week of wonderful indulgences. Bookings are required for treatments, but are not necessary for bath-only access.

Secure Your Spot
Visit the Plan Your Trip page to book winter activities like snowmobiling, tubing, snowshoeing, winter zip-lining and Vallea Lumina. Visit our Ticketing Site to register for the guided ski/snowboard groups, purchase tickets for events including Sip ‘N Dip, and to get additional information about the charity ski race and the parade.

Lady Bunny is a Pig in a Wig for Whistler Pride

[fsn_column width=”12″ column_style=”light”][fsn_text]

LADY BUNNY IS A PIG IN A WIG FOR WHISTLER PRIDE

Whistler Pride has announced that the one-and-only legendary queen Lady Bunny will perform at the festival for the first time.  Lady Bunny is an iconic trailblazer in the queer community, advocating for queer rights while mixing activism and entertainment! She brings attention to important causes and celebrates life and love in style. She is a drag queen, actress, nightclub DJ, promoter, and the founder of Wigstock. Lady Bunny will be front and centre as a guest of honour at this year’s festival including performing a night of potty-mouthed humour, that you won’t soon forget! Talented, glamorous and funny as hell – nobody does it like Bunny!

Parade Grand Marshal and T-Dance DJ

Friday ski-out and parade is always a spectacle.  This year, Lady Bunny will bring extra camp and colour, greet the flags at the base at skier’s plaza to lead the march through the village and bring the crowds to the pride T-Dance at the Whistler Conference Centre. Later on, at the T-dance she will spin one of her infamously entertaining DJ sets! Don’t be surprised if she jumps out of the DJ booth to join the crowd on the dance-floor! The parade is free to join and the T-Dance is free to enter between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. Entry after 5:30 requires a pass or ticket or guests can pay at the door!

LADY BUNNY in PIG IN A WIG

Don’t miss the legendary warthog of Wigstock, LADY BUNNY in PIG IN A WIG. America’s favourite sow in a smock promises a night of corn-fed comedy, filthy music and plenty of wallowing in the mud. The show will feature Broadway parodies, Bunny’s salute to Laugh-In, some brand new material and some so old that only the dead will recall it.

With her glitzy outfits, sky-high wigs and false eyelashes long enough to embarrass Tammy Faye Baker, multi-talented drag artist LADY BUNNY would turn heads even if looking glamorous was her only talent. Bunny has been lucky enough to share a stage with many of her idols-including Patti Labelle, Joan Rivers, Bea Arthur, Elvira, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Grace Jones, Jennifer Holliday… and now she’s coming to Whistler to share a night with you.

Tickets available in advance. Limited number available!
