WSSF 2015 now 20 years young is sure to be a fantastic 10 days of music, arts, and sports. There is a bit of snow in the forecast to help keep some of the runs fresh and the mild temperatures in the village are certainly going to keep the vibe super hot and sexy.
One of our favorite events at WSSF 2015 is the super charged Roller Derby. Roller derby is back in Whistler! The World Ski & Snowboard Festival presents Silence of the Slams, a roller derby bout featuring Whistler’s Black Diamond Betties hosting a rematch with the Sea to Sky Sirens from Squamish. These sister leagues have close ties and the competition is fierce! Don’t miss the fast-paced, full-contact action as Whistler defends their title at WSSF. A must see if you can get tickets is the Pro Photo Showdown. As one of the most prestigious action sports photography competitions in the world, the OLYMPUS Pro Photographer Showdown has seen some of the top action sport and lifestyle photographers in the game battle it out for the title of Best in Show during WSSF 2015.
Every year, photographers from around the world submit their best work to the WSSF team in hopes they will be selected to compete in the event. This year, in celebration of the 20th annual World Ski & Snowboard Festival, no pre-submission was required. Instead, these five photographers, some of the very top in the action sports world were handpicked, invited, and will be flown in to compete at the event.
Get ready to go on a stimulating visual journey with some of the best photography they have gathered throughout their careers. This year’s event will showcase a broad range of action including skiing, snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding and mountain biking.
