NEVER EVER DAYS RETURN TO WHISTLER BLACKCOMB DECEMBER 10 & 11
450 Adults New To Skiing/Snowboarding Will Receive a Lesson, Lift Ticket, Rental Gear & Après For Only $25
WHISTLER, BC November 30, 2016 – Fresh on the heels of a massive expansion and upgrade to the learning area on Whistler Mountain, Never Ever Days are back at Whistler Blackcomb. On December 10 and 11, 450 (225 guests on each day) beginner adult skiers and riders (ages 19 and up), will receive a one day Max4 lesson, lift ticket, ski or board rental, and après at the Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC) for only $25. Participants in Never Ever Days will be taught at the newly improved learning area at Olympic Station, where they will have access to freshly graded terrain and two new covered carpet lifts. Registration opens on December 5 and it sells out very quickly every year.
Now in its sixth year at Whistler Blackcomb, the program geared towards bringing adults who have never tried skiing or snowboarding into the sport has spread across Canada. The Canadian Ski Council is working with over 70 ski areas across the country to offer Never Ever Days throughout the 2016.2017 winter season. For a full list of participating ski areas, please visit https://www.skicanada.org/never-ever-days/.
“We are so proud that a program pioneered at Whistler Blackcomb is being taken on by ski areas across Canada,” says Bartosz Barczynski, General Manager of Adult Ski and Snowboard School at Whistler Blackcomb. “Enticing new people into winter sports is important for our business and can be a challenge with adults. Never Ever Days have been a proven success for us and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with people from all over the country.”
Each participant in Whistler Blackcomb’s Never Ever Days will receive a $25 voucher which can be applied to an incredible comeback offer with Snow School. For those participants keen to continue learning to ski/snowboard after their Never Ever Days experience, the $25 voucher can go towards an additional two-day lesson, lift ticket and rental package, essentially making their initial day free.
Guests can find out more information about the Never Ever Days program and register on December 5 to participate at https://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/snow-school/never-ever-days.
As an additional effort to welcome more newcomers this season, Whistler Blackcomb will continue to run Discover Whistler Days, offering 25 per cent off select adult, youth and kids group lessons. The dates of Discover Whistler Days are November 23 – December 16, February 25 – March 12, April 1 – 9, and April 18 – 23. For more information, click here.
Micky Friedmann is not only talented, but his ear for sounds and how they mesh recalls the old school DJing of Larry Levan or Little Louis Vega. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also drop-dead gorgeous and, in a business full of (unearned) diva attitude, a genuinely nice guy. It’s a combination that guarantees success, as his star continues to rise in the international club firmament.
This Jerusalem-born “sabra” (native of Israel) came by his love of music at an early age. His parents encouraged his interest and enrolled him in a dance school. After the obligatory stint in the Israeli Armed Forces, he became a ballet dancer and model. He moved to the German capital in 1998 to become a soloist with the prestigious Berlin Ballet. That same year, he decided to buy a pair of used turntables and started spinning at home, “just for me, for fun,” he says.
At the Palm Springs White Party, the balletic beauty caught the eye of DJ legend Junior Vasquez. “He came down with a bottle of water and asked me if we would like to dance for his Pride party at Spirit,” recalls Friedmann. Having Junior not only notice you but descend from the Olympian heights of the DJ booth in the midst of the male pulchritude on display at the White Party to bring you a water bottle is the gay equivalent of having the heavens part and receiving divine grace.
Friedmann knew divine intervention when it hit him: He made a pilgrimage to Fire Island to hear Vasquez spin and to ask his advice about making a major life decision to go from dancer to DJ. When Vasquez, who learned his craft at the feet of Larry Levan, told Friedmann, “You are a talented kid, go for it,” he took the plunge. It turned out to be the right decision.
Friedmann learned his craft so quickly and expertly that he was soon given residencies in Hamburg, Cologne, Amsterdam and Berlin, where he is now based. He’s become one of the marquee names at gay clubs and events such as including Alegria, Pines Party, Matinee and Hustlaball. He is as popular in Mexico, Canada and the U.S. as he is throughout Europe.
His music combines techno, progressive, tribal and electro House. Driving and hard, it’s a sound he “sexy House — music that makes people feel sexy.” He totally gets the vibe of the gay dance floor: “Hot bodies, sweaty skin, searching eyes. I spin music that fits that atmosphere.”
As a DJ who moonlights as a model, Friedmann knows his physique will inevitably become part of the marketing when he’s playing. And that’s just fine with him: “Turn on the TV, open a magazine, look at the advertisements. We live in a world where looks are integrated and penetrate into every aspect and genre of our lives. Being on ads and in magazines is a part of my life, and I look at it as work.”
But being gorgeous has its drawbacks. “Trust me,” he says, “it is a lot harder to prove you are good at what you do when you are good-looking.” Anyone who hears Friedmann, however, soon forgets about the package and goes straight to what’s coming out of the speakers.
Friedmann will get his Furrocious on Friday, January 27th, 2017 at the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival’s annual Military Ball at the Whistler Conference Centre 10PM – 2AM. Click here for tickets.
